The Path
Part I: The Dream
You wake up sweating. It’s 0300 and you’re discombobulated from: 1. waking up at 3am and 2. The intensity and depth of what you just experienced. Was it a dream? Or did that really happen?
Part II: The Reckoning
The only thing you know for sure is the feeling of what just happened. It doesn’t matter if it was a dream, or if it really happened. From that experience, you recognize a problem.Â
You were in a 50 year old body. Overweight, unhappy, unable to move the way you want, you NEED. What if there was something you could do, or could have done 25 years ago? Imagine, that’s 6500 training sessions you could have accomplished. 6500 steps towards a better life that you chose not to take. Instead, you sit unable to move, hauling excess body fat, with diminishing confidence and sunken emotions. Was that a nightmare? Not even a dream. Elevated to the darkest place of your thoughts, experiencing the nightmare that could be a reality.
Part III: The Awakening
You know the problem. As days and weeks pass, you could sit and do nothing but perpetuate the problem into existence. But you will not live out this nightmare. You are AWAKENED by the PURPOSE that you must have, and that do have. You have potential, unrealized and raw. There is a path you have yet to take, living your life on the sidelines of that path. You move through time, oblivious to the path that could be. Days, weeks, months, and years of inadequate nutrition and overuse of alcohol have led to a body that cannot move fast, lift heavy, or protect those around you. What are you if you cannot even protect your loved ones? A bullet is the greatest equalizer, a different game altogether than even what the best fighters prepare for. But will you even have a fighting chance? Will you even ATTEMPT to realize the moral obligation to your loved ones, past, present, and future. There’s so much more to be, and you have been awakened to the opportunity.
Part IV: The Uprising
What is purpose without action? You recognize your unlimited potential. It is not just physical, but utilizes physical training to elevate your cerebral abilities to move forward in life. The discipline you will develop, the steps you will take, are the actions that realize the awakening you have experienced. This is the uprising, applying the mental stimulation to the physical domain to be better than you ever have. You have a goal in this life and you will achieve it.Â
Part V: The Renewal
You are not the same person. There is action to take and it will be realized over time. You have a purpose that drives your action. You will be better for yourself and those that count on you. You are afforded one body and one opportunity to be great. So you follow the greats, you watch the documentaries, and begin training. You have a mentor (in person or online) and learn the movements. The results you seek will not be given, but earned. The path is difficult, constantly pushing for you to rest. The voice telling you to sleep in, you’re too sore to train, you did enough this week. But you know better. You are not the same person, and will not be drawn into the same hole you lived in for YEARS. There is no going back. You have purpose and take action in your RENEWAL.
Part VI: The Perpetuation
You have action, continuously moving forward by the momentum you have built up. An object in motion stays in motion, and that object will carry you to elevated performance in every aspect in life. There is no stopping. Your renewal drives the performance and constant progress towards your goal. But what even is the goal? You will not take the sophomore slump. The goal is the path, and staying on it each and every day. Every training session will not be perfect. You will not always get runner’s high or the dopamine hit from crushing a PR. But you will drive forward. For your health and the protection of those around you. There is only one chance, and your renewal will provide the energy to gain discipline and continue. And you will continue in PERPETUITY.
Part VII: The Cycle
You’re now an established lifter. You look good, you feel good. But there’s one lingering feeling. I could be doing more. I could be training harder. I could look better. Now you’re trapped. This is the never ending cycle of any true athlete. You finish your workouts feeling great, only to be looking forward to the next day you can train. Each day is never enough, trapped by your own potential. Do I go out with the boys (or girls) and get a drink? The question festers in your mind, will this hinder my gains? How many calories are in that shot of tequila? Who knows, who cares? You are a sovereign individual, you will train and enjoy life. The cycle is ever repeating, train, eat, rest, enjoy life. The real answer to going out is up to you (hint it’s yes), but what you are now is an elevated human being transformed by the realization of your true nature and potential in life. You live out the cycle in an ever changing experience day by day, improving every one of them.
This concludes this series. Hope you enjoyed the slightly different format.
