This week PR’d my 12 mile ruck for a sub 2 hour in nasty hills and the next day repped 315 on decline bench.
Recovery is interesting. I’d say presently I’m in the best shape of my life while balancing full time work, Acid Gambit, and building the Gambit app. Over time, putting in the required volume across strength, endurance, and high intensity conditioning allows your body to recover at insane rates.
Some nights I get 9 hours of sleep, some 6, and some 3.
Nutrition, water intake, and training have remained consistent the last 12 months. I’ve trained with others that push me to work harder (and competition drives performance).
The consistency in steady state, high intensity conditioning, and pushing hard in the lifts every week is what I attribute to my current shape. All of this while maintaining visible abs and 9-10% BF.
It all starts with momentum. I’ve drilled the significance of getting started with as little as possible to get you consistent. And once you’re consistent, slowly scale the volume and intensity to truly push yourself week in and week out, while maintaining adequate rest periods.
In 2023, I’ve completely cut out alcohol. Not by intention, but after Christmas 2022 I had no desire to drink. I’ve literally never felt better. That’s not to say I won’t drink in the future (and the end of this month going to a very close friend’s wedding). But at the moment I’m continuing to improve even though I would consider now to be the best shape I’ve ever been in - across lean mass, body fat, endurance, speed, strength, and explosiveness.
Regardless of where you are now, pick a goal and drive toward it. Obligations and distractions are inevitable. You have to be smart with your time. Cut out wasteful habits you’ve developed. Hone your body. We have a moral obligation to be physical freaks, if not for ourselves, for our present/future families and our previous generations.
My grandfather cycled well into his mid to late 70s. There was a passion and excitement behind the energy he embodied. He was born in Italy, gained American citizenship by enlisting in the Army during WWII, and lived the most outrageous life spending years in Latin America, routinely hunting in the Amazon, and has an unverified body count (outside of WWII) from defending himself during the cocaina hay day down south.
I can only wish to live a life as full as his. But the simplest way to push towards that is to be as fit as humanly possible and learn to defend oneself properly. Time is ticking. Seconds turn into hours, hours into days, days into years. We have less time than we could ever imagine. I came across this tweet the other day:
Essentially, we are halfway through our lives based on perceived time after 24. That one keeps me up at night. Therefore, don’t delay.
If you are interested in training with me, drop a 1:1 application here.
Additionally, I’m working hard on releasing the next version of the app to get as many people as possible on high quality programming to be the best version of themselves.
I for one cannot wait for what the future has in store for us.
Cheers ✌️
